Mind The Overlap

Mind The Overlap is a browser based 3D projection mapping planner.

Mind The Overlap

“If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail”

After working in various projection mapping projects, I’ve come to the realisation that Benjamin Franklin was right. There are not a lot of projection mapping planner / simulation tools in the market (it’s quite a niche industry). The good one is expensive and the cheap one is not good.

With the help of Claude Code, I’ve built a browser based 3D projection mapping planner that fits my projection planning workflow. Let me show you some screenshots:

User interface

I can import 3d models into the scene, add Projectors with various ANSI lumens, lens throw ratio, stack, resolutions. The viewport is full 3D where I can pan, rotate, move, and also set various camera position presets.

One of the most important tool in projection planning is the Lux level analysis.

There’s also a Blend option which enables me to check the lux level when edge blend is applied.

The other analysis that this little tool provides are the pixel pitch and pixel stretch of the projection.

Last but not least it also provides the option to export a pdf report of the projection study.

Here’s the example of the projection study pdf report:
